Community Integration Services
What are Community Integration Services?
An array of mental health supports and services designed to integrate and link people
with developmental disabilities to their communities are provided based on needs
of the individual being served. Services are designed to provide specialized training
in self-care, health and safety, communication, daily living, mobility and other
skills necessary for community living
Who can benefit from Community Integration Services?
An individual with a developmental disability may be eligible for Community Integration
Services. Individuals must be willing to actively participate in services with the
goal of increasing their own community independence. Priority is given to individuals
with the most severe need and to those in urgent or emergent situations.
How do Community Integration Services help an individual?
A person centered treatment approach is used to help identify an individual’s strengths,
dreams, goals and desires. Specialized training programs are provided based on individual
needs. A service and support plan is developed to assist individuals in increasing/enhancing
skills necessary for community inclusion. Supportive services and skills training
assist an individual to achieve a higher level of independence and more fully participate
in the community
How can you access the Community Integration Services?
An individual may request services directly by another service agency or professional.
