Gratiot County CMH Participates in Pink Shirt Day to Bring Awareness to Bullying

On October 20, 2010 the employees of Gratiot County Community Mental Health wore pink to advocate against bullying and enhance awareness of this fast growing trend.

Over 160,000 kids stay home from school daily due to bullying. Too often, bullying goes unreported and is perpetuated by the stigma associated with seeking help. Tragically, in many cases, bullying leads to suicide.

Pink Shirt Day is an inaugural event to promote the prevention of bullying in our schools, homes, workplaces and the internet. Gratiot County CMH is proud to support this cause. Join our staff in speaking out against bullying!

To get more information about bullying and ways to prevent it there are many resources available. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has an informational website for both parents and kids at http://stopbullyingnow.hrsa.gov/kids/ as well as Teens Health at http://kidshealth.org/teen/your_mind/problems/bullies.html or you may contact Gratiot County Mental Health at (989) 463-4971 or (800) 622-5583.
