National Alliance on Mental Illness
From its inception in 1979, NAMI has been dedicated to improving the lives of individuals
and families affected by mental illness For three decades, NAMI has established
itself as the most formidable grassroots mental health advocacy organization in
the country. Dedication, steadfast commitment and unceasing belief in NAMI's mission
by grassroots advocates have produced profound changes. NAMI's greatest strength
is the dedication of our grassroots leaders and members. We are the families, friends
and individuals that serve to strengthen communities across the country.
The Arc

The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental
disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the
community throughout their lifetimes.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) mission
is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America's communities.
In order to achieve this mission, SAMHSA has identified 8 Strategic Initiatives
to focus the Agency's work on improving lives and capitalizing on emerging opportunities.

EightCAP

The mission of EightCAP, Inc. is to advocate and promote the health, education,
and welfare of the residents in the service area. To that end, the corporation will
design, administer, and deliver programs that address the causes of poverty, alleviate
its effects on our citizens, and teach self-sufficiency including the habilitation/rehabilitation,
social development, and employment of mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially
disabled persons.

QPR Institute

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer -- 3 simple steps that anyone can learn
to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich
Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how
to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade,
and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying
"Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor. QPR can be
learned in our Gatekeeper course in as little as one hour.

United Way Worldwide is the leadership and support organization for the network
of nearly 1,800 community-based United Ways in 45 countries and territories. We
envision a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential
through education, income stability and healthy lives.
Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards

The Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards was created in 1967 to
support county mental health services programs (CMHSPs) in promoting, maintaining
and improving a comprehensive range of community-based mental health services, which
enhance the quality of life, promote the emotional well-being, and contribute to
healthy and secure communities which benefit all of Michigan’s citizens. Services
managed and delivered by CMHSPs are designed to assist individuals in achieving,
maintaining and maximizing their potential and are provided in accordance with the
principles of person centered planning.
American Associaton on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities(AAIDD)
Mission Statement AAIDD promotes progressive policies, sound research, effective
practices, and universal human rights for people with intellectual and developmental
disabilities.
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance
The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) is the leading patient-directed
national organization focusing on the most prevalent mental illnesses. The organization
fosters an environment of understanding about the impact and management of these
life-threatening illnesses by providing up-to-date, scientifically based tools and
information written in language the general public can understand. DBSA supports
research to promote more timely diagnosis, develop more effective and tolerable
treatments, and discover a cure. The organization works to ensure that people living
with mood disorders are treated equitably. DBSA was founded in 1985.
The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare
The National Council is the unifying voice of America’s behavioral health organizations.
Together with our 1,800 member organizations, we serve our nation’s most vulnerable
citizens — more than 8 million adults and children with mental illnesses and addiction
disorders. We are committed to providing comprehensive, quality care that affords
every opportunity for recovery and inclusion in all aspects of community life. The
National Council advocates for public policies that ensure that people who are ill
can access comprehensive healthcare services. And we offer state-of-the-science
education and practice improvement resources so that services are efficient and
effective.
